Domaine de Marie
I was practically given "carte blanche" for this property. My clients' trust and enthusiasm for my ideas and work meant that my creativity and imagination knew no limits but those of the given budget...
In this very large area two partition walls (plasterboards) were put up to hide central heating systems, cables, meters, providing efficient storage space as well.
Kitchen, Dining Room, Drawing Room Formal Country Drawing Room
I integrated the existing beams into these partitions. I aged the too new terracotta floor, lime coated all the beam structure, adding fake hollow beams to house electrical cables for ceiling lights.
Walls and brick pillars are lime-plastered. I chose furniture of different styles and periods, painted and patined chairs, consoles, etc. I bought antique doors, hung trophies and paintings .
Fabrics which I love and look for in the most unlikely places were chosen for their texture and colours.
Beautiful designed lighting enhances it all!
Le 'Chic' of a country house
In this bedroom the very ordinary pine floor made of narrow strips of wood has been transformed by painting large regular lines 'en trompe l'oeil'. The entire surface has been sanded to age it and hard glazed.
The drawing room floor made of antique terracotta needed a touch of 'elegance' in keeping with its country house chic. I chose greyish blue tones with white, reminiscent of 18th century and decorative items from my client's collections
Rustic Country Barn
Inheriting a barn is quite a challenge! My clients loved the building and its location. They asked me to keep the 'soul' and character of the place.
The dining room: I worked on the stone walls, finding an invisible way to seal them; The slate paving has been aged by bleaching. A family heirloom a renaissance cupboard, found its place as a backdrop to the dining table and Ikea armchairs.
Bathroom: it is very contemporary and sober in perfect harmony with the rest of the building.
I was also in charge of designing to the garden , my choice of plants and the layout were guided by the location and the rustic aspect of this wonderful barn.
